Nigeria's February oil output hits 88% of OPEC quota

Key Highlights

  • Nigeria's crude oil production in February 2026 was 1.313 million barrels per day (mb/d), 88% of the OPEC quota.
  • Total output including condensate was 1.48 mb/d in February, down from 1.62 mb/d in January.
  • The OPEC quota for Nigeria was set at 1.5 mb/d.
  • Condensate production in February was 170,259 barrels per day.
  • Trunk line maintenance was cited as a reason for the production dip.

Nigeria's crude oil production saw a significant decrease in February 2026, reaching only 88 percent of the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) quota. This marks a decline from the approximately 98 percent achieved in January 2026.

The country's output in February stood at 1.313 mb/d, falling short of the OPEC-assigned quota of 1.5 mb/d. Additionally, Nigeria produced 170,259 barrels per day of condensate during the same month, bringing the total combined output to 1.48 mb/d.

These figures are detailed in the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC) Crude Oil and Condensate Production February 2026 report. The report noted that the lowest combined crude oil and condensate production in February was 1.41 million bopd, while the peak reached 1.56 million bopd.

The average daily production for February was 1,483,954 barrels per day, comprising 1,313,695 bopd of crude oil and 170,259 bopd of condensate. This represents a sharp decline from the 1.62 mb/d of crude oil and condensate produced in January.

In January 2026, Nigeria had produced 1.45 mb/d of crude oil and 116,373 b/d of condensate. The NUPRC report attributed the dip in February production to trunk line maintenance on some of the facilities.
